From Mithila's Ponds to Your Bowl: The FoxNutWallah Story

Mithila, in Bihar, is home to the largest fox nut cultivation region in the world. The seeds are harvested from the region's wetland ponds by hand -- a labour-intensive process that has been passed down through generations of farming families in the area.

FoxNutWallah was built around sourcing directly from these Mithila farmers, rather than through layers of middlemen. That has two practical benefits: it lets us maintain closer quality control from pond to pack, and it puts more of the value back into the hands of the farmers actually doing the harvesting and processing.

Once harvested, the raw seeds go through cleaning, grading (by size -- what's referred to locally as 'Suta' grading) and roasting before they're packed. Every batch is machine-cleaned and graded for uniform size and expansion, which is part of why the crunch stays consistent pack to pack.

We're an FSSAI-licensed, IEC-certified business, which means our processing meets food safety standards for both domestic and export markets. Today FoxNutWallah reaches retail customers, wholesale distributors and export buyers -- but the sourcing story starts the same way it always has: in the ponds of Mithila.
